Worship

We value worship that in many ways brings to life the message of God’s extravagant welcome, unconditional love, and grace. Our hope is that all who gather will feel renewed in spirit and purpose.

We come together to worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30am.

  • Worship at First Church

The service weaves together preaching that is insightful and relevant, hymns both traditional and contemporary, uplifting choral, piano and organ music, and special music (please see below). Our Pastor preaches most Sundays, and members and friends, adults and children, are a vital part of the service. Our sanctuary is a large open space, fully accessible, and just about everything in it is moveable. It’s surrounded by windows and full of light, and graced with banners reflecting the seasons of the church year.

We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of each month. Without exception, all are welcome at Christ’s table.

Baptism is a joy we share during worship.

  • Children & Worship

Children of all ages are welcome to participate in worship. For those who prefer, there is nursery care available for the youngest.

Following a special Children’s Time in the service, children from age three up to 6th grade are invited into Sunday School. Visitors are welcome as well.

  • Music

We understand that music can speak in ways that words can’t touch us, and we’re blessed with an inspiring musical life at First Church.

    OUR CHOIRS

Our choirs are open to all who are interested, and sing between September and May. Our chancel choir of young adults and adults sings two to three times each month.  There’s much variety in our choice of music, and though usually accompanied by piano or organ, at times local and member musicians add their gifts to our song.

Pianist, Organist, Hammered Dulcimer: Diana Stoll

    SPECIAL MUSIC

Once a month throughout the year, musicians from the greater Mankato area offer special music in worship. We take seriously that we are a church in the community and we’re fortunate to have two universities with excellent music programs so near by. We welcome local ensembles and soloists, and a diversity of sounds and styles.
