IN THE PASTOR’S OWN WORDS:

    This last day of August moves us into the few remaining days of summer which in Minnesota officially ends with Labor Day.  I have mixed responses to this inevitable calendar/seasonal change.  My initial response is “Where has the summer gone?”  Then I remember hot humid days, rain storms, lush gardens, 40th ordination anniversary celebration, V.B.S., a trip to Colorado, Safe Church meetings, our Vision Team trip, and Family Camp.  “That’s where the summer went” I say to myself.   Then I am reminded, “For everything there is a season and a time under heaven . . .”  In these last days of Minnesota summer may we all take the time to reflect on the blessings of this season.  May this be a time of pause for you and for me.

From the CHURCH OFFICE COORDINATOR:

1.)  WE ARE LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER FOR A MONTHLY DUTY

Beginning the month of September, a new way of notifying Sunday worship helpers of their duties for two months is being implemented.  You might have noticed a sheet in your mailbox with your assigned dates for helping during September and October.  We are looking for a person who would be willing to place these sheets in the mailboxes once a month and remove the old ones.  Please let me know if you are interested in this job.

2.)  IS THERE INTEREST IN CPR TRAINING?

The Health Ministries Team is wondering if there is interest in scheduling a CPR training session this fall.  If you are interested in training or updating your training please contact Parish Nurse Nancy Peterson at (507) 351-8480 or email her at <jntwopete@yahoo.com>.

3.) OFFICE HOURS CHANGE NEXT WEEK

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, I will be in the office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.  until 3:30 p.m. Thanks to Donna Sandon for working during the summer on Mondays and Fridays.  The office is closed over most noon hours. Pastor Al has Fridays off and Pastor Lynn Mondays, except the third Monday of most months.

The office will be closed Monday, September 6th for the Labor Day Holiday.

Pastor Lynn will be on vacation through September 7th.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

PLEASE NOTE: Because of privacy issues and the internet, from now on we will only list the names of individuals for prayer when specifically requested by that person or an immediate family member.

1.) Sympathy to Gus & Melissa Grau and family at the death of Gus’ father, Marlowe Grau, this past Friday.  A memorial service will be held at First Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 7th with visitation one hour before the service.

2.)  For Marcia Robertson suffering from migraines.  

3.)  Prayers of joy and concern at the birth (2 months early) of Landon, son of Allison Thompson and Jack  Jennings.  He was born August 29th and weighed only 2# 9 oz.  At this time mother and baby are doing well at Abbot-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
   
4.) For all undergoing medical procedures, tests, treatments, and awaiting surgery.

5.) For all our servicemen and women serving our country and for their families.

9:00 a.m. - Women’s Gathering, Laura’s - North Mankato

Sunday, September 5

	9:30 a.m. - Worship
	10:30 a.m. - Fellowship Time, Fellowship Hall

Monday, September 6

Office closed for Labor Day Holiday
